This was the Hotchkiss H35. However, it proved to be only marginally faster than the R35. Its short 37mm SA-18 gun has poor anti-tank capability.\n\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\nA longer 37mm SA-38 gun was developed, and by May 1940 they had enough to begin upgrading guns. The Hotchkiss H39 improves on the H35 with a new more powerful 120 hp engine giving it the speed it requires for its role as a cavalry tank.
